I am a journalist currently studying for my Masters degree in Multimedia at Bournemouth University in the UK.

This website was constructed by myself and I chose this topic from my personal experience in Kenya, having lived there most of my life.

I wanted to investigate why access to cheaper and effective antiretroviral treatment medicine was still out of reach for thousands of children with HIV/AIDS in Kenya and how Patent law affects the cost of ARV treatment drugs.

My aim was to bring the world’s attention the suffering of thousands of children living with AIDS in Kenya.

I have explored the various issues affecting the global fight against the disease and focusing on access to antiretroviral treatment drugs or the lack of.

At the same time I looked into perhaps the crucial player in all this, pharmaceutical companies and what their contribution would mean in the fight against AIDS.

This site highlights the need for governments to strike a balance between politics and science in tackling the scourge.

With countries like Kenya registering an increase of prevalence rate among children and young people. The figures on this website are reflective of a war far from won.
